The AOSpine Research Commission in conjunction with the Hansjörg Wyss Foundation is pleased to announce the Hansjörg Wyss Research Award 2011. Through this funding mechanism, we would like to support scientists and clinicians in the field of spine research. This invitation for proposals is open to all researchers proposing to conduct fundamental, translational or clinical investigations pertaining to the spine.

Paul Pavlov honored with the AO Recognition Award 2010

The AO Recognition Award is the most prestigious prize awarded by the AO Foundation for life-time achievement. This year’s recipient Paul Pavlov from Nijmegen, The Netherlands received the AO Recognition award for his exceptional contributions to the development of new treatment options in spine surgery, and his leadership in the AO TK System and the AOSpine Specialty. The prize has been awarded only 8 times since its inception 18 years ago and recent recipients include Jörg Auer (2008) Ted Hansen (2006) and Stephan Perren (2004).

AOSpine Principles Seminar - Hong Kong

The AOSpine Principles Seminar was held at the Training Center for Health Care Management and Clinical Technology on 3 July 2010. The learning objective of this seminar was to provide basic knowledge to frontline Accident & Emergency officers, family physicians, diagnostic radiologists, therapists, orthopaedic nurses, orthopaedic and neurosurgical residents, house officer and intern to recognize and diagnose various common spine conditions.

AOSpine Principles Course - Indonesia

The AOSpine Principles Course was held in Bandung, Java, Indonesia from 30 July – 1 August, 2010. It was the first time AOSpine East Asia to organize a Principles Course in Indonesia since 2008. There were a mix of lectures, case presentations and workshops.

AOSpine Principles Course - New Delhi and Hyderabad, India

The AOSpine Principles Course was held from 4 – 6 July 2010 in New Delhi and from 8 – 10 July 2010 in Hyderabad. This highly specialized course was aimed at resident surgeons at the final stages of their orthopedic or neurosurgical training, and practicing spine surgeons with up to 3 years of clinical experience. The lecture topics included spinal trauma and degenerative conditions of the cervical and lumbar spine with special emphasis on patient assessment, patient selection, surgical techniques, and complications of surgical treatment.
